The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that there are no current cases of Ebola within the country. This statement comes in the wake of a report that a Congolese traveler, who passed through the UAE, was later diagnosed with Ebola in Uganda. The individual did not visit any healthcare facilities while in the UAE, according to health officials.

In response to this situation, the ministry is coordinating with the World Health Organization to enforce precautionary measures. These include risk assessments, contact tracing, and bolstered health surveillance, all aligned with international health standards. Despite concerns, health authorities have clarified that the ongoing Ebola outbreak is primarily confined to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The WHO has assessed the global public health risk as low at this time.

To safeguard public health, the UAE government has advised its citizens and residents to refrain from non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. These recommendations are part of broader efforts to monitor and manage the situation effectively.

Ebola is recognized as a severe viral illness that spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person. Symptoms typically include fever, fatigue, headaches, vomiting, and diarrhea, with more serious cases potentially leading to organ failure and internal bleeding.
